What this is, and what's coming

The Player Coefficient rewards results at recognised competitive events, weighted by tournament tier and normalised against the size of the field, so results stay comparable across formats and eras. It answers "who has achieved the most?" — not "who is strongest right now?"

The forthcoming Lucent Elo Rankings — Individual and Team — will answer that second question directly: a predictive, FIFA-style rating based on opponent strength and expected performance. The two systems are designed to disagree sometimes. That's not a bug in either of them.
